Paterson Police swiftly arrested a man who reportedly stole a car that had a child inside at a location in Paterson Monday.
According to police, at approximately 9:05 p.m., police rushed to the area of Union Avenue and Marion Street to investigate reports of a vehicle theft.
When offices arrived, a woman frantically told them that a male suspect stole her vehicle with a child in the back seat.
According to reports, police notified headquarters, who dispatched additional units to the scene to assist in the search for a black Nissan with temp tags that was last seen heading northbound on Union Avenue.
Officers located the car and followed it to the intersection of White Street and Broadway, where police took the suspects into custody at that location.
The child was found inside the car, unharmed, police said.
Authorities have not immediately reported if the incident is domestic in nature at this time.
Paterson Police detectives are handling the investigation.
