Theives Steal Car with Baby Inside in Newark

Authorities in Newark are on the search for a set of thieves who stole a car that was occupied by a young child in Newark's South Ward on Saturday evening.

The investigation into the incident is in its early stages, but according to preliminary reports, police were called to the 50's block of Homestead Park after they received reports of a carjacking that occurred at approximately 7:45 p.m.

Units arrived at the scene and were told that suspects forced their way into a vehicle and drove off with a two-year-old child in the rear seat according to reports.

Police say once the suspects noticed the child inside the vehicle, they released the child from the car a short distance away.

The car that police are looking for is a black 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander with a reported NJ license plate number, 'J11-KXP'.

Police say the child did not suffer any injuries and the suspects remain at-large.
