October, the month dedicated to cancer awareness, is right around the corner, and the Ironbound community is gearing up for its monumental Cancer Awareness Walk, now in its tenth consecutive year.

Each year, hundreds of individuals come together at Peter Francisco Park to celebrate life and show their support in the fight against cancer.

This event has become a cherished tradition in Ironbound, drawing people from all walks of life.

The walk, which winds through the streets of Ironbound, is not just about promoting awareness but also about making a tangible difference. Cancer walk

Following the energizing walk, a health clinic will be held at East Side High School, providing essential health resources and information to participants.

Councilman Michael J Silva, a cancer survivor himself, emphasized the significance of this event, saying, "This walk is an opportunity to raise funds to support organizations in the battle against a disease that often presents an unequal challenge. As a councilman and a cancer survivor, this holds personal importance for me, and I extend a heartfelt invitation to the community to join in this noble initiative. I want to express my gratitude in advance to the participants, sponsors, and everyone who has made this great event possible."

The event kicks off with registration on Sunday at 9 a.m. at Peter Francisco Park, with the walk commencing at 10 a.m.

Participants will have the opportunity to purchase commemorative T-shirts, serving as a symbol of their commitment to this vital cause.

The Ironbound Cancer Awareness Walk is a testament to the power of community and the determination to combat cancer together, one step at a time.
