Teens Indicted for Murdering Trenton Man

Trenton

Acting Mercer County Prosecutor Doris M. Galuchie reported that a Mercer County grand jury returned a five-count indictment this week charging two Trenton teens with the shooting death of Ricardo Montalvan Jr.

Authorities identified the teens as **Divon Ray, 17, and Zakeem Brown, 18,** who were each indicted on one count of first-degree murder, one count of first-degree felony murder, one count of first-degree robbery, one count of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and one count of second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.

Ray and Brown were waived up to adult court from juvenile court in September 2016. Both men remain in jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.

Authorities said, on May 11, 2016, at approximately 9:50 p.m., Trenton police responded to calls about a shooting in progress and a man shot in a parking lot at 212 Whittaker Avenue.

Upon arrival, police found the victim, later identified as 23-year-old Montalvan of Trenton, in a silver Toyota Camry suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Montalvan was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 10:15 p.m.

The charges are a result of an investigation by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force, specifically lead investigator Robert Booth of the New Jersey State Police. Assistant Prosecutor Timothy Ward presented the case to the grand jury.

Despite having been indicted, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
