Teen Boys Arrested for NJ Car Crash

Middlesex County authorities reported that two juvenile males have been taken into custody and charged with an act of juvenile delinquency for offenses which, if committed by an adult, would constitute Aggravated Assault, Assault by Auto and other offenses.

Lupus According to Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone, on May 24, 2023, at approximately 11:32 A.M., authorities responded to Ryders Lane near Winton Road in East Brunswick after reports of a serious motor vehicle crash.

Upon their arrival, officers located five vehicles that were involved in the crash, 4 of them sustained damage.

Prosecutor Ciccone said a Mercedes SUV overturned and struck a Honda head-on as a result of the juvenile’s vehicle impact on the SUV.

The driver of the Mercedes was uninjured, and the driver and juvenile passenger of the Honda were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.

According to Prosecutor Ciccone, the driver of the Honda was released from the Hospital early this morning, but the juvenile passenger remained in critical condition. A tractor-trailer was also struck as a result of the crash, the driver was uninjured.

Police took the teens in custody, juvenile males  and charged them with an act of juvenile delinquency for offenses which, if committed by an adult, would constitute for juvenile 1, two counts of Aggravated Assault and three counts of Assault by Auto, and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Prosecutor Ciccone said juvenile 2 was charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault and three counts of Assault by Auto.

They are currently being housed at the Middlesex County Juvenile Detention Center. A preliminary hearing was held today, where it was determined that both juveniles will remain detained.

Prosecutor Ciccone said this is an active and ongoing investigation.
