Teen Arrested for Allegedly Possessing a Loaded Gun in Newark

Newark Police officials are reporting the arrest of 18-year-old DaShaun Cromer, of Newark, for possession of a loaded .38 caliber handgun.

According to a statement released by police, acting on citizen complaints of drug activity at the location, at approximately 3:30 p.m., detectives assigned to the Criminal Intelligence Unit responded to the area of the Pilgrim Baptist Village Housing Complex.

Police said when officers arrived, they observed Cromer in the area acting suspiciously then saw a gun in his waistband.

Detectives confiscated the loaded .38 revolver as well as marijuana and heroin that Cromer allegedly has on his possession police said.

Police arrested then charged Cromer with the unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of CDS marijuana and heroin.

These charges are merely accusations. The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
