Teen Allegedly Caught with Multiple Vials of Cocaine in Newark

Police in Newark announced the arrest of **Mr. Kaseen I. Oakes, 18, of Newark,** for weapon and CDS possession Wednesday.

According to a police statement, at approximately 9 p.m., detectives observed Oakes in the area of Stratford Place and Avon Avenue.

Police say Oaks fit the description of a suspect in an incident of criminal mischief that occurred on Friday, September 21st in the same area.

Upon becoming aware of police presence, police say Oakes ran and ignored officers repeated commands to stop.

Police immediately apprehended and found a loaded 9MM handgun, 54 vials of cocaine and $31.30 in suspected proceeds from drug sales in Oakes's Possession.

Oakes faces charges of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, CDS Possession, CDS Distribution within 1,000-ft. of a School and Resisting Arrest.

These charges are merely accusations.

The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
