Newark Fire Department's Arson Squad were notified of several garbage fires that was ignited in a neighborhood in the city overnight.
According to preliminary reports, police and firefighters were called to a fire that happened in the vicinity of 184 South 9th Street at around 3:30 a.m.
Upon their arrival, crews swiftly extinguished several garbage cans that were on fire at that location.
A search of the area for extensions and possible victims both came back negative.
The incident is under investigation by Newark Fire officials.
