Fire Officials in Newark investigate the cause of a suspicious fire that ignited a car in a section of Newark's North Ward on Tuesday morning.
According to a preliminary investigation, police responded to reports of a fire near the intersection of Peabody and Trinton Place around 12:35 a.m.
Units arrived at the scene and found a vehicle fully involved in flames at that location.
According to reports, the car's female owner said an unidentified male set the car on fire before firefighters' arrival.
Crews were able to get the blaze under control then check the vehicle for trapped and injured occupants, which resulted in a negative finding.
The incident remains under investigation.
