Suspended Hudson County Sheriff’s Officer Found Dead in His West New York Home

The death of a Hudson County sheriff’s officer - recently suspended after he crashed into a Bayonne bar while allegedly drunk - is under investigation after he was found dead this morning inside his home.

On May 14, Alex Ferrer, 41, of West New York, was charged with DWI within 1,000 feet of school and reckless driving after crashed into a Bayonne bar. Ferrer was also suspended without pay.

This morning police responded to Ferrer's home where he was found dead . Based on the preliminary investigation, Ferrer appears to have committed suicide.

The incident remains under investigation by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office and the West New York Police Department.
