Suspects Wanted for Newark Carjacking

Police in Newark request the public’s help identifying suspects wanted in connection with a carjacking that occurred on Wednesday, February 9.

According to Newark Police, at approximately 8:15 p.m., police responded to the 400 block of Broadway on a call of a carjacking.

A male victim was physically assaulted after exiting his black 2019 Toyota Highlander SUV.

Two males, who arrived in a dark-colored SUV, took the victim’s cash, car keys and cell phone and drove away in his vehicle, heading southbound on Broadway.

Police say a female passenger inside the suspect vehicle, moved to the driver’s seat and fled in the suspects’ vehicle, heading northbound on Broadway.

The victim was transported to Clara Maass Medical Center for treatment of his injuries and is reportedly in stable condition.

Detectives investigating this incident seek the public’s help in quickly identifying these suspects as part of the investigation.

The first suspect and initial driver of the suspect vehicle is described as a clean-shaven heavyset Black male with a medium complexion, wearing a gray hooded sweater and dark-colored pants.

According to police, the second suspect, who was the backseat passenger in the suspects’ vehicle, is described as a Black male with a thin build and a medium complexion, wearing all gray clothing and a ski mask.

The female suspect is described as having a medium brown complexion and blonde hair.
