Suspects Sought for Two Newark Gas Station Robberies

Newark

There is an active search for suspects wanted for two armed robberies in Newark's South Ward overnight.

At approximately 3 a.m., police responded to reports of a robbery in progress at 242 Elizabeth Avenue (Gulf Oil).

When officers arrived at the scene, they were told by the victim that an armed male exited a white Jeep Cherokee and demanded cash.

Police say the victim handed over an unknown amount of proceeds before the suspect sped away in the vehicle that was occupied by 2-3 other suspects.

According to police, in another incident, police were dispatched to 499 Frelinghuysen Avenue to investigate reports of an armed robbery at the Gulf Gas station.

Upon arrival, police confirmed that the same suspects from the Elizabeth Avenue robbery arrived armed with guns and took cash from employees before speeding from the scene.

Police believe that the white Jeep Cherokee has a reported partial NJ license plate number "C83".

There were no injuries reported, and the suspects remain at large.
