Suspects Sought in Newark South Ward Armed Robbery

Police in Newark requests the public’s assistance in identifying two males wanted in connection for an incident of robbery and aggravated assault that occurred on Sunday, January 13th.

According to police at approximately 10:40 a.m., a man and woman were taking a selfie on Osborne Terrace near Clinton Avenue when two men approached. One of the men snatched the woman’s iPhone X from her pocket and ran.

Police say the victim’s male friend intervened and struggled with the second suspect at the scene. The second suspect pulled a handgun and pointed it at the man before fleeing on foot.

Robbery detectives investigating this incident obtained photos of two of the suspects and are seeking the public’s assistance in quickly identifying them to assist police in removing them from our streets.

According to police, the first suspect, who snatched the victim’s cell phone, is described as a dark-skinned black male, wearing blue jeans, a black hooded sweater and a burgundy cold weather hat.

The remaining suspect, armed with a handgun, is described as having a light complexion and also wearing blue jeans and a hooded black jacket police said.
