Suspects Operating Stolen Vehicle From Millburn Wanted for Armed Carjacking in Newark

Newark

Police in Newark are looking for suspects wanted for an armed carjacking that occurred in the city's South Ward this afternoon.

According to authorities, Millburn Police were on a high-speed chase of a Mercedes Benz that was stolen in their town but discontinued the dangerous pursuit when arriving in Newark just before noon.

Police say, the driver of the stolen Mercedes recklessly sped through several Newark streets where they then intentionally crashed into the rear of a car in the 50's block of Branford Street.

According to police, when the driver exited the car to assess the damage, one of the suspects produced a gun and demanded the vehicle.

The suspects took the victim's gray Nissan Altima with reported NJ license plate numbers "L12-LDZ".

Police officers canvassed the entire South Ward and found the unoccupied Mercedes Benz in the 30's block of Eckert Avenue a short time later.

There were no injuries reported.
