Police reported no injuries in a shots-fired incident in Newark's Central Ward Friday evening.
According to police, gunfire rang out near 131 Springfield Avenue at William Street around 5 p.m., sending officers to the scene to investigate.
Upon arrival, officers found evidence that a shooting occurred ad shell casings in close proximity to the Metropolitan Church.
Police said armed suspects occupying a gray Ford Focus fired shots at unknown targets at that location.
Essex County Sherrif's Officers found the unoccupied stolen Ford Focus on Lyons Avenue in Newark's South Ward.
The shooting is under investigation.
