Suspect Wanted for Striking Victim in the Head With Bottle in Newark’s Ironbound Section

Newark Police are appealing to the public for help in identifying a suspect involved in an aggravated assault that took place in the early hours of March 9. AdThe incident, which occurred around 3 a.m. on the 100 block of Van Buren Street, involved the suspect hitting a victim in the head with a bottle during a physical altercation.

Surveillance footage captured the suspect engaging in a fight with the victim, during which the suspect threw the victim to the ground and proceeded to strike him in the head with a bottle.

The violent encounter has prompted a call to action from the Newark Police Department, spearheaded by Director Fragé.

The Newark Police Division urges anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspect to come forward and contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).

In an effort to encourage community members to assist in the investigation, officials emphasize that all tips provided to the Crime Stopper line will remain anonymous and confidential.

Furthermore, information leading to the suspect’s identification could result in a reward for the informant.
