Suspect Wanted for Stealing Running, Unattended Vehicle in Newark’s South Ward

Newark Police seeks the public’s help in identifying a male suspect wanted in connection with a carjacking that occurred Wednesday. 

Police said just before 2:45 p.m., a male entered a white Jeep Grand Cherokee left running and unattended at the Exxon gas station at 351 Elizabeth Avenue.

According to police, the suspect drove off in the victim’s vehicle heading north on Elizabeth Avenue. 

While detectives investigating this incident are actively seeking this suspect, they request the public’s help in quickly identifying him.

The suspect is described as 6-ft. tall with a medium build.

He wore a black and blue winter coat with a black hood underneath and black and blue sneakers with no shoelaces.
