Authorities in Newark are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man caught on camera stealing a package from a residential property last week, according to information released by the Newark Police Department.
Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. stated that the incident occurred around 12:41 p.m. on May 23, 2025, when a suspect was seen on surveillance video removing a recently delivered package from the front porch of a home located in the 600 block of North 7th Street.
The individual is described as a light-skinned male wearing a blue jacket layered over a black sweater, with dark jeans and black and white sneakers. 
The theft occurred in broad daylight, and police are hoping someone may recognize the suspect based on the footage or clothing description.
Officials are urging anyone with information that could assist in identifying the suspect to contact the department’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS.
