Suspect Wanted for Snatching Man’s Chain in Newark

Newark Police requests the public’s help identifying a male suspect who is wanted in connection with a robbery that occurred on Thursday, April 13. 

Police said at approximately 6:45 p.m., the victim was approached in the 200 block of Bergen Street

Police said the suspect walked behind the victim, snatched his gold chain, and threw the victim to the ground.

According to Newark Police, the suspect then grabbed the handle of a weapon hidden in his waistband before entering a green, 4-door vehicle and fleeing toward 14th Avenue and Bergen Street.

Detectives investigating this incident describe the suspect as 5’8” tall and 230 pounds with a muscular build.

He has a dark-brown complexion, a mustache, and a slight beard, and was wearing glasses, green shorts, a green shirt with a logo on the back and the chest area, and white sneakers.
