Suspect Wanted for Slapping, Punching Woman in Newark Assault Incident

Newark Police are reaching out to the public for help in locating 35-year-old Iyanna Miller, also known as Iyanna Smith, who is wanted for questioning related to an assault that occurred on January 3, 2024.AdThe incident took place in the 500 block of Springfield Avenue during an event.

According to the victim's report, she was attacked by Miller (a.k.a. Smith) as she was leaving the event.

Miller allegedly struck the victim on the left side of her face and continued with punches and slaps.

The victim, who was transported to University Hospital for treatment following the assault, is currently in stable condition.AdMiller (a.k.a. Smith) is described by detectives as being 5'11" tall, with a dark complexion, black hair, and brown eyes.

The Newark Police Department, led by Director Fragé, is urging anyone with information regarding Miller's whereabouts to contact the Police Division's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). 

The department assures that all tips provided to Crime Stoppers will remain confidential and could potentially lead to a reward.

This call for public assistance is a crucial part of the ongoing efforts to ensure community safety and bring those responsible for violent crimes to justice.
