Suspect Wanted for Shots Fired Incident in Newark, Crashes Motorcycle in Elizabeth

Police took a male into custody after he sped away from the scene of a shots fired incident in Newark;'s South Ward overnight.

According to preliminary reports, a ShotsSpotter activation alerted police of a shooting that occurred in the vicinity of 100 block of Sherman Avenue where officers swiftly arrived at the scene and observed the alleged shooter speed away on a motorcycle.

The suspect reportedly made it to North Broad Street in Elizabeth where he crashed the motorcycle near the PSEG building then was apprehended by police.

EMS transported the suspect to an area hospital where doctors treated non-life threatening injuries.

Police setup a crime scene in both areas then checked for shell casings near the Hell's Angels Club House according to reports.

There were no other injuries reported.
