Newark Police officials are on the search for a suspect who assaulted an officer in the city on Friday.
According to preliminary reports, police officials alerted surrounding police agencies to be on the lookout for an older white Toyota Avalanche occupied by a suspect who assaulted an officer in the vicinity of Spruce and Charlton streets.
Officials say the sergeant suffered non-life threatening injuries during the assault.
The incident is under investigation.
