Suspect Sought for Pistol-Whipping Victim During Newark Carjacking

Police in Newark seeks the public’s help identifying a suspect wanted for questioning in connection with a carjacking that took

place at gunpoint on August 15.

Police say officers responded to a call about a stolen car at approximately 8:30 p.m. in the 200 block of Rose Street.

Police say it was later determined, however, that the victim had been carjacked by the suspect who posted a Jeep Cherokee for sale on the LetGo app.

The victim responded to the inquiry and met the suspect on Rose Street.

When he arrived, the suspect assaulted him at gunpoint and took his vehicle, a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox.

While police are actively searching for the suspect, we seek the public’s help so that he can be located.
