Suspect Sought for Armed Carjacking in Newark

Police in Newark request the public's help identifying a suspect wanted in connection with a carjacking that occurred on Sunday, February 20, 2022.

Police say at approximately 2:30 a.m., a victim reported that his vehicle was carjacked at Mobil Gas Station, 499 Frelinghuysen Avenue.

The victim left his vehicle running and went inside the mini-mart at the gas station. When he went outside, he observed a male in the driver's seat of his vehicle.

According to police, the suspect drove off after the victim attempted to re-enter his vehicle.

Detectives investigating this incident seek the public's help in quickly identifying this suspect as part of the investigation.

He is described as a Black male, wearing a gray vest, a black sweater with white drawstrings and a BMW logo on the chest, a black ski mask, black Adidas sweat pants with a white vertical line along his leg, and light-colored sneakers.

All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
