Suspect Robbed Victim Then Used Stolen Credit Cards to Make Purchases in Newark

Newark Police are searching for a suspect captured on surveillance video using credit cards taken during an armed robbery on August 11, 2022.

 Newark Police officials said at approximately 10:45 p.m. the victim was robbed at 11 Pennington Street when the suspect approached him from behind with a weapon that he stuck in the victim’s back.

According to police, the suspect, who wore a surgical mask and dark-colored clothing, took the victim’s wallet containing credit and debit cards then fled westbound on Pennington towards Broad Street.

The suspect is described as a 5’8” Black male with a medium build and he appears to be in his 20s.

Two days after the robbery, police said  on August 13, 2022, the below-pictured suspect on the left was captured on surveillance video attempting to use one of the stolen credit cards at 2:50 a.m. at a gas station near Broad Street and Lincoln Park.

The suspect pictured below on the right attempted to use a stolen credit card at 10:07 a.m. at a liquor store in the same location.
