Ms. Aurora Villacorta, 51, of Paterson, was arrested in connection with a harrowing stabbing incident that unfolded on October 11 in the vicinity of Carroll Street and Godwin Avenue.

Paterson Police Department's investigation has revealed a disturbing account from the suspect, who reportedly told authorities that she heard voices in her head, compelling her to commit the heinous act.

Aurora Villacorta now faces a litany of charges, including Aggravated Assault in the Second and Third Degrees, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon as a Fourth-Degree offense, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose as a Third-Degree offense, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child as a Second-Degree offense.

These charges stem from the tragic events that unfolded late in the afternoon on October 11.

The incident that shook the Paterson community occurred at approximately 4:10 p.m. when members of the Paterson Police Department responded to reports of a stabbing.

Upon their arrival, officers discovered a 5-year-old female child who had sustained multiple stab wounds.

The investigation swiftly led authorities to Aurora Villacorta, who, shockingly, is the child's own grandmother.

Villacorta was promptly arrested in connection with the gruesome attack.

Aurora Villacorta is scheduled to appear for Central Judicial Processing on October 12, 2023.

It is crucial to remember that a criminal complaint is a formal accusation and does not constitute a verdict.
