Suspect Fires Over a Dozen Bullets in Newark North Ward Neighborhood

Newark

Newark North Ward Police officers marked off about 15 shell casings after a gunman began randomly firing rounds in a neighborhood in that section of the city Saturday night.

It happened in the 80's block of Second Avenue shortly before 7:30 p.m.

Police say residents dialed 911 after hearing repeated gunfire erupt in the neighborhood. When officers arrived, they found shell casings on the ground, but no victims were found.

A crime scene unit was called to the scene to assist in the investigation.

The suspect fled the scene and has not been captured, according to police officials.
