A person is in police custody after allegedly attempting to damage a home by breaking gas service lines Wednesday night in Paterson, authorities said.
The incident was reported at approximately 11:31 p.m. in the 300 block of Wabash Avenue.
According to emergency dispatch reports, the suspect allegedly attempted to “blow up” the residence by damaging the home’s gas service pipes. Police quickly took one individual into custody.
Paterson firefighters responded to the scene to investigate the gas leak and secure the area, ensuring the property was safe.
No injuries were immediately reported.
The incident remains under investigation, and additional information, including possible charges and the suspect’s identity, has not yet been released by authorities.
