Suspect Captured for Deadly Shooting in Hoboken

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said on Saturday, November 19, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the United States Marshals Service of New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with the fatal shooting of Christopher Garcia in Hoboken -pictured-

.

On Sunday, September 25, 2022, at approximately 3:25 a.m., Prosecutor Suarez said the Hoboken Police Department received a 911 call reporting a shooting in the area of 560 Marshall Drive.

According to Prosecutor Suarez, upon arrival, responding officers located a male victim – later identified as Mr. Christopher Garcia, 28, of Hoboken – with an apparent gunshot wound to the torso.

Emergency Medical Services transported him to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 3:56 a.m.

According to Prosecutor Suarez, Deon Williams, of Jersey City, is charged with Murder in violation, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose

Williams was arrested at a hotel on International Boulevard in Elizabeth and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.      

Prosecutor Suarez credited the HCPO’s Homicide Unit, the United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, and the Hoboken Police Department with the arrest and investigation.
