Sunday Worship Begins Under Clear Skies, Crisp Air in Newark

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

My family and friends across Newark and the North Jersey region woke up to a crisp and breezy start to the second half of the weekend, with cooler air reminding many of early fall.

As of 4:30 a.m., it was 59 degrees on Grove Street and South Orange Avenue in Newark’s West Ward, making it a chilly morning for anyone heading out early, including those on their way to first Sunday worship services.

Jackets were recommended, though forecasters say layers won’t be needed for long as sunshine helps to shake off the morning chill.

According to the National Weather Service, skies will bring a mix of clouds and sun, with temperatures climbing into the low 70s later in the day.

Winds from the northeast at 6 to 9 mph will shift southeast by the afternoon. Tonight, conditions are expected to stay mostly clear, with lows around 55 degrees.

The forecast marks another pleasant day for the region, free from the heavy humidity that gripped much of the summer.
