According to information provided by the Maplewood Police Department, officers were dispatched to the West Parker Avenue lot at approximately 8:21 a.m. on June 2, following a report of a robbery involving a student.

Upon arrival, officers learned that an adult male student had been assaulted by three unidentified individuals.

The suspects, described as wearing ski masks and dark clothing, allegedly attacked the student before stealing $40 in cash along with his bookbag, which contained a school-issued laptop and other personal belongings.

After the robbery, the trio fled the scene in a white Kia sedan, which was noted to have a broken rear passenger-side window.

Authorities later located the vehicle, which had been abandoned in Newark. It was recovered and transported to the Maplewood Police Department as part of the ongoing investigation.

Fortunately, the student did not sustain any physical injuries during the encounter.

The Maplewood Police Youth Aid Bureau has taken the lead on the investigation and is reviewing evidence related to the case.

In a statement, the department emphasized its commitment to maintaining the safety of students and staff at Columbia High School.
