Strong Armed Robbery Reported in Newark's East Ward

Authorities in Newark's East Ward are on the search for several male suspects that committed a strong armed robbery of a resident in the area.

According to reports, police responded to the 400 block of East Kinney Street (near the Ann Street School) on reports of a robbery in progress.

Units arrived to the scene where they were met by the victim who told them that 6-8 black males (possibly high school aged) approached and demanded personal possessions.

According to the victim, one of the suspects motioned as if he was reaching for a weapon while the others continued to demand personal items.

The suspect that motioned as if he was armed, is described as 5'7" tall male with orange hair that was twisted. He was last seen wearing a purple and grey shirt, light blue jeans, and white sneakers.

A second suspect was said to be around 6'2" tall, heavyset, and wearing all black.

The suspects fled north on Elm Road from East Kinney.

There were no physical injuries reported.
