Strong Armed Robbery of Gas Station has Police Searching for Suspects

Newark

Police in Newark are investigating a strong armed robbery that happened early this morning at a gas station in the city's West Ward.

Cops responded to the Shell Gas Station located on Stuyvesant Avenue and South Orange Avenue shortly after 10:30 a.m. where officers were approached by an injured employee who told them that two black males entered the establishment and began to assault him after taking several items from the store.

The suspects fled the scene in a 2013 black Chevy Impala.

Police pulled over a vehicle matching that description a short time later on Stuyvesant and Underwood where officers towed the vehicle but it is not immediately clear if any arrests were made.

The incident is under investigation.
