Strong Armed Carjacking Suspect Sought by Newark Police

Police in Newark are on the search for a suspect who committed a strong-armed robbery in Newark on Tuesday evening.

According to police, just before 6:10 p.m., police were called to the teens block of North 67th Street to investigate reports of a carjacking in progress.

Police arrived at the scene and were told that the suspect took a dark gray 4-door 2012 BMW and sped away from the scene.

Elizabeth Police spotted the car within their city limits and engaged in a pursuit that ended in the area of Osborne Terrace and Clinton Place just before 9:30 p.m.

The unoccupied car was ultimately found on Clinton Place at around 9:35 p.m.

Police say a grey Honda Sedan accompanied the suspect with white rims. Police say this vehicle has a reported NJ license plate number "G31-JFC".

The suspect is a black male who was last seen wearing a black and gray sweatsuit, according to reports.

There were no injuries reported.
