Stray Bullets Strike Vehicle in Newark's South Ward

Police in Newark are investigating a shooting incident that resulted in property damage Friday night. 

It happened in the Clinton Hill section of Newark's South Ward around 10:15 p.m. 

A ShotSpotter device was activated in the area of 904 South 19th Street, alerting police of multiple rounds of gunfire. 

When police arrived, they found shell casings and an unoccupied vehicle struck by gunfire at that location. 

After searching the scene, no victims were found, and the suspect fled. 

The investigation is ongoing.
