Stray Bullets Strike Multiple Cars in Newark's South Ward

Newark Police officials are investigating a shots-fired incident that caused property damage in the South Ward Tuesday evening. 

Residents on Maple Avenue notified police after they heard several rounds of gunfire in the area around 5:10 p.m. 

Residents told RLS Media that South Ward officers arrived and canvassed the area after they found shell casings near 94 Maple Avenue. 

According to an on-the-scene review, police marked off about four cars with multiple bullet holes, including one with damage to the windshield. 

The suspect is believed to be a black male last seen fleeing the scene wearing dark clothing. 

No injuries were reported in the shooting and all of the vehicles were reportedly unoccupied.
