We are waking up to a wet and potentially stormy start to the week across Newark and much of North Jersey.

If you’re heading out to the bus stop, commuting to work, or traveling anywhere this morning, be prepared for a messy start to the day.
Heavy rain moved through the region overnight, and more showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout the morning.
It is currently a humid 76 degrees in downtown Newark, and the combination of tropical moisture and repeated rounds of rain has prompted a Flood Watch for much of New Jersey.
Expect ponding on roadways and localized flooding, especially in low-lying areas and locations that typically flood during heavy rain.
The good news is that conditions should gradually improve later this evening, but we’ll have to get through a soggy morning and afternoon first.
According to the National Weather Service, today will bring showers and possibly a thunderstorm with a high near 82 degrees.
Southwest winds will be around 11 mph, with gusts up to 22 mph. The chance of rain is 100 percent, with an additional three-quarters of an inch to one inch of rainfall possible.
Tonight, skies will slowly clear after sunset, becoming partly cloudy with a low around 66 degrees. A light north wind will help bring in drier air.
If you’re traveling this morning, slow down on wet roads, never drive through flooded streets, and allow extra time to reach your destination.
