Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

Good Monday morning, New Jersey.

If you're stepping out early, you may want to grab an umbrella. Light rain is falling in parts of the state, and steamy temperatures are already making their presence felt.

As of 4:30 a.m., it was a humid 76 degrees in downtown Newark.

Patchy fog and light precipitation could slow the morning commute, but the heavier rain is expected later in the day.

According to the National Weather Service, there’s a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms this morning, followed by more widespread showers and possible thunderstorms after 2 p.m.

Today’s high will reach around 87 degrees, with a south wind at 5 to 8 mph. The chance of precipitation is 80%.

Stay dry and have a great start to your week, New Jersey.
