State Trooper Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash in Upper Freehold

Two State Troopers patrolling Interstate 195 were involved a single-vehicle crash that killed one of the two troopers early this morning in Upper Freehold.

The troopers were traveling eastbound on Interstate 195 near exit 8 when it struck a deer at approximately 12:48 a.m.

The vehicle, a Ford Crown Victoria, drove of the right side of the road into trees. 

The driver, Trooper Anthony Raspa, 24, was killed in the crash. He was transported to CentraState Hospital in Freehold where he was pronounced dead. 

The passenger, Trooper Gene Hong, 29, was transported to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in Hamilton, where he was treated for lacerations and a neck injury. He is expected be released soon.

Both troopers were on duty at the time of the crash.
