State Police Seek Public Help in Solving Fatal Hit-and-Run of Newark Teen on Garden State Parkway

The New Jersey State Police have issued a public appeal for assistance in their ongoing investigation into a tragic hit-and-run motor vehicle crash that took place on the Garden State Parkway on the evening of Monday, October 9.

AdThe incident, which resulted in the death of a sixteen-year-old juvenile pedestrian from Newark, has left authorities determined to bring those responsible to justice.

According to the preliminary findings of the investigation conducted at the scene, the tragic event unfolded at approximately 9:24 p.m. on that fateful evening.

It was reported that a 2004-2006 black Acura TL, bearing an unknown New Jersey license plate, was traveling northbound on Eastern Parkway in Irvington, near the 143C entrance ramp.

At this juncture, a juvenile pedestrian crossed the roadway and was struck by the approaching vehicle.

In a distressing turn of events, surveillance footage, and witness accounts suggest that following the collision with the juvenile pedestrian, the vehicle continued its northward trajectory on the Garden State Parkway.

The collision resulted in significant damage to the vehicle's front end, particularly the passenger side and the passenger sideview mirror.

Tragically, the impact of the crash proved fatal for the sixteen-year-old juvenile male pedestrian from Newark, NJ, who succumbed to his injuries.

The New Jersey State Police are now reaching out to the public for their cooperation and assistance in shedding light on this heartbreaking hit-and-run incident.

Authorities are keen to gather any information from witnesses who may have observed the crash, the events leading up to it, or any subsequent actions taken by the vehicle involved.
