The New Jersey State Police are investigating a deadly crash that occurred early Saturday morning on a busy stretch of highway in Bergen County.

While full details have not yet been released, preliminary information indicates that around 3:00 a.m., emergency responders were dispatched to the northbound lanes of I-95 on the New Jersey Turnpike, just south of Exit 68 in Ridgefield Park, for reports of a serious collision.
When crews arrived, they discovered multiple vehicles involved in the crash, including at least one vehicle with occupants trapped inside.
One individual was pronounced dead at the scene. First responders worked to extricate additional victims, who were transported to area hospitals for treatment.
The northbound roadway remains restricted as State Police conduct the investigation and process the scene.
Further information will be released as it becomes available from the New Jersey State Police. 
As of 4 a.m., motorists are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
