A longtime math teacher at a high school in Woodbridge was fired by the Woodbridge School system and had his license suspended after ridiculing a student on a social media platform according to reports.

Paula Weckesser, who taught 30 years in the capacity of Math Instructor for Woodbridge High School and JFK Memorial High School was fired after the district brought tenure proceedings and the State Board of Education suspended his license.

Reports said the state charged Weckesser with misconduct after calling students losers on Facebook, will lose her teaching license two years.

At a hearing before a stateNJ Board of Examiners last year, the board had the option of revoking her teaching certificates but opted to suspend Weckesser for two-year teaching years.

Weckesser also was continually tardy, failed to complete her grade book according to district standards and allowed her cell phone to go off while students were taking a state exam, the decision said.
