Police officials in Newark are investigating a stabbing incident that left a person injured in the city's Central Ward during the overnight hours.
According to a preliminary investigation, just before midnight, police responded to reports of a person stabbed in the 80's block of Winans Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found the victim suffering a non-life threatening stab injury in their chest.
According to police, the victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.
The motive for the attack is under investigation and there were no other injuries reported.
