Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Livingston Police Department are investigating a fatal fire.
Authorities said that on Wednesday at around 4:22 p.m., an emergency call came in reporting a fire on East Cedar Street. When emergency personnel arrived on the scene, they discovered the body of Dr. Emmanuel Yacoub, 30, of Livingston. Yacoub was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:30 p.m. authorities said.
The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation but the preliminary investigation indicates he may have set the fire. An autopsy will be done to determine the cause and manner of death.
Dr. Yacoub was a doctor at St. Barnabas Medical Center.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
