We are waking up to continued warmth this Friday as we close out the week here in Newark.

Good morning, New Jersey!

We hope you’re feeling well as this stretch of warm weather continues. After a long, harsh winter, this recent heat has been a welcome change for many across the region , and not too many are complaining.

As of early this morning, it’s already 71 degrees in downtown Newark.

While temperatures will begin to trend downward heading into the weekend, today will still feel well above normal and quite comfortable.

We started the morning with a round of light to moderate rain that moved through Newark and much of North Jersey, leaving behind damp roads for the commute.

According to the National Weather Service, expect scattered showers today, with the potential for thunderstorms after 2 p.m.

Skies will remain mostly cloudy early before gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 79 degrees. Winds will shift from the northwest at 6 to 9 mph, and the chance of precipitation stands at 30 percent.
