Residents across Newark and North Jersey are waking up to a cold and damp Friday morning, with temperatures sitting at a brisk 49 degrees to start the day.

According to the National Weather Service, while it’s a gloomy start, the day won’t be a total washout.

Breaks of sunshine are expected later this afternoon, although scattered showers may still develop. A jacket is a must for early commuters, and keeping an umbrella nearby is a smart move.

Stay warm and stay dry, New Jersey.
