As communities across South Jersey and the broader region experience a noticeable increase in vehicle thefts and burglaries, the Deptford Township Police Department is stepping up enforcement efforts while urging residents to take simple but critical precautions.

According to a message released by Chief Joe Smith, the department is actively working alongside state, county, and local law enforcement partners to combat the growing trend.
Authorities say the rise in incidents has become a regional concern, prompting coordinated efforts to address the issue.
In response, officers will be increasing overnight patrols throughout neighborhoods in an effort to deter criminal activity and protect residents.
Chief Smith emphasized that community cooperation is essential in reducing these crimes. Residents are strongly encouraged to lock their vehicles at all times, avoid leaving valuables in plain view, and never leave key fobs inside their cars.
Additionally, keeping exterior lights on around homes can help discourage would-be thieves.
Officials say these small but effective steps can significantly reduce the risk of becoming a target.

Police urge residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately as enforcement efforts continue.
