South Hackensack Man Charged with Viewing Explicit Images of Minors on the Internet

Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrest of Mr. Shane W. O’Connor 43; on the charge of Possession of Explicit Images of Minors.

Authorities say the arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti.

According to a statement released by police, on Friday, October 5th, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at the residence of O’Connor following a months-long Internet explicit images of minors investigation.

Officials say the investigation revealed that O'Connor used the Internet to view digital files depicting explicit pubescent and prepubescent children.

Police arrested O'Connor then charged him with one count of Possession of Explicit Morning Images of Minors in an amount less than 100 files, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(B)5(B)iii, a 3rd-degree crime.

Officials say he is scheduled for a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack on October 17th, at 9:00 a.m.

Acting Prosecutor Calo states that the charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

Acting Prosecutor Calo thanks the South Hackensack Police Department for its assistance, as well as the Lyndhurst Police Department, which participates in the Bergen County Cyber Crimes Task Force.
