Somerset Teen Convicted of Aggravated Assault in Franklin Township Incident

Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald reported that on May 10, a Somerset County Jury convicted 19-year-old Yahmir Brown of second-degree aggravated assault.

The charges stem from an incident on November 23, 2022, when Brown and a juvenile co-defendant assaulted an employee of a local business on Hamilton Street in Franklin Township.

The victim suffered multiple facial fractures due to the attack, which was investigated jointly by Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Detective William Perez and Franklin Township Police Detectives Emma Bascom and Robert Brown.

During the trial, the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Rory A. Eaton, with the assistance of Litigation Paralegal Maria Ducca.AdBrown faces a mandatory prison sentence, 85% of which must be served without parole under the No Early Release Act.
