Good Sunday morning, New Jersey. If you haven’t peeked outside yet, winter has made its presence known.

A cold front moving in from the west has already dropped about two inches of snow since around 4:30 a.m., and the Newark and North Jersey region is expected to see between three and five inches before the system moves out.

If you’re heading out early for Sunday morning service, make sure you’re fully bundled up.

Along with the snowfall, gusty winds are making it feel even colder, creating a raw and wintry start to the day.

It’s shaping up to be a frigid Sunday, and with snow-covered roads and sidewalks, drivers are urged to slow down and use extra caution.

Allow for extra travel time and watch for slick spots, especially on untreated roads.

According to the National Weather Service, snow is expected mainly before 10 a.m., with temperatures falling to around 25 degrees by 5 p.m. Wind chill values will range between 10 and 20 degrees.

Winds from the northwest will increase from 7 to 12 mph to as high as 15 to 20 mph during the afternoon.

The chance of precipitation is 80 percent, with around one additional inch of snow possible.

Sunday night will be mostly clear, with a low around 17 degrees. Wind chill values will dip between 5 and 10 degrees, with blustery northwest winds of 16 to 21 mph and gusts reaching up to 31 mph.

Stay warm, travel safely, and take it slow out there, New Jersey.
